As soon as you finally meet the night song in the second act of Baldur’s Gate 3, you must make a difficult decision: Do you allow Shadowheart to fulfill her lifelong duty and kill The Nightsong? Or do you create a crisis for your own party member and let Aylin live?
In this Baldur’s Gate 3 Guide, we tell you what happens if you Save or kill The Nightsongand what you should do with Aylin when you reach Lorroakan in Act 3.
Should you save or kill Nightsong in BG3?
Dame Aylin is very cool and a little strange, and she has been trapped for quite some time. Assuming you have Shadowheart with you, you’ll need to convince Shadowheart to let Nightsong live. Here you can either save or kill Nightsong – as long as you have Shadowheart in your party for this quest.
- If you kill the nightsong – or rather, urging Shadowheart to kill the Nightsong – the cleric ascends and becomes the Dark Justiciar (which actually brings her powerful loot). This will end the Nightsong quest early and Nightsong will not help you attack Moonrise Towers, defeat Kethric Thorm, or fight the final boss fight of the game. Additionally, killing the Nightsong will also cause the shield protecting the Last Light Inn to shatter, turning all living Harpers there into zombies. Baldur’s Gate 3 offers some pretty morally gray choices, but this is the obvious “evil” choice.
- When you save the night song, Shadowheart will have a bit of a character crisis. She eventually leaves Shar and her beauty eventually turns brilliant white (This results in a well-aligned Shadowheart.) Dame Aylin will then escape the Shadowfell and lead an attack on Moonrise Towers and Ketheric Thorm. It also continues the quest and paves the way for the conclusion of Nightsong in Act 3. This is the “good” choice, but not the good ending, as you can also do bad things to Aylin in Act 3 if you want.
How to complete the Nightsong quest in BG3, Act 3
After Moonrise Towers, Isobel and Nightsong – who are lovers – will join your camp and just hang out for a while. Neither of them can join your party, but you can talk to both of them at any time while you’re in camp.
You can visit it in Baldur’s Gate Magical little things, a massive, magical marketplace in the Undercity of Baldur’s Gate. Meet here in Lorrainethe wizard who sent Aradin to find the Nightsong at the start of the game.
Should you side with Aylin or Lorroakan in BG3?
You now have to choose a side between Aylin or Lorroakan. Whatever your decision, this will be the case Finally Complete your quest to help Nightsong.
- You can Impersonate Aylin Lorroakan and help him fight the Nightsong. If you give up Aylin, Lorroakan will pay you and accompany you in the final battle. Lorroakan is clearly seeking power and trying to steal Aylin’s mortality. It’s clear from his first scene that this guy Fuck So this leads to a bad outcome to the quest.
- You can tell Aylin that Lorroakan wants her immortality, causing Nightsong to become angry and ask for your help in killing the wizard. If you end up helping Aylin kill Lorroakan, she and Isobel will thank you and join your crew for the final battle. This seems to be the “good” result of this quest. Aylin essentially commits a revenge killing and you go with her, but Lorroakan is a dangerous wizard and he has to go, so don’t feel bad about it.
- You can also just Lie to Lorroakan about not knowing the Nightsong and then lying to Aylin about Lorroakan. This leaves both characters alive, but is essentially not a conclusion, so the gray choice.
