I play a lot No Man’s Sky since the new update arrived recentlyand it finally stuck with me. While I appreciated the state the game was in when it shipped in 2016 and didn’t mind it, a busy life kept me from really spending much time in this nearly endless virtual galaxy. And then with all the updates, it just seemed impossible to know when to jump in for a meaningful amount of time.

But as a result of both the recent improvements made by Worlds Part I and the massive backlog of material I have to discover after so many free updates, No Man’s Sky is a huge sandbox where you can make your own fun and I just can’t resist it. So this weekend I’ll probably continue my efforts to further expand my base and explore the planets in the system I’m currently staying in until it feels right to move on.

However, I must emphasize how much I love the basic structure of No Man’s Sky: just traveling and exploring, flying seamlessly from world to world, discovering new horizons, finding all sorts of new possibilities. It’s wonderful. The size of this world also makes me feel so small (especially in VR) and gives me that joyful sense of wonder I get from watching vintage films. cosmos while, um, well. Under the influence of. Um. Stuff. And while I wish the graphics were a bit more photorealistic, I learned NMS“Cartoonish, overly colorful look, especially on a glowing screen where the very red grass of the planet I covered the entire circumference is bursting with life.

Does the game still feel a little hollow in some ways? Sure. It could have More To Do™, sure. (Actually Past Expeditions, should still available to play). But guys, just swinging in digital spaces is a good way to enjoy your time. I don’t have to chew through content all the damn time. I like that NMS exists as a refuge for it. – Claire Jackson

And that’s it for our tips for this weekend. Have fun playing!
