Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn probably won’t make it to the top of most people’s lists of hardest Soulslike titles, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t challenging – especially if you don’t take full advantage of everything the game has to offer.

Whether you’re a Soulslike newbie or a seasoned veteran, we think these six tips are important before you head out Flintlock‘s dangerous and mysterious world.
Explore everything thoroughly, otherwise you risk losing touch
When you explore the world and it looks like you can reach an area where Flintlockthen there’s a good chance you can. This game has an exceptionally vertical world full of secrets that you can find by jumping or taking cracks to new or hidden locations. Such off-the-beaten-path areas are often home to important upgrade materials or new equipment This can be hugely beneficial to your build, so explore the area thoroughly to find them all, or risk being much less capable in the new areas than you expect.
Always rush to Inaya shrines and Enki feathers
Speaking of exploration, there are a handful of Inaya Shrines and Enki Feathers scattered throughout the world. The former increases your overall health, while the latter increases the rate at which Enki fills your opponents’ Prime Gauge in battle. Shrine and feather icons will appear on your map as you approach themSo if you notice one appearing, head to it immediately to receive these helpful gifts.
Prioritize weapon upgrades early
As you find materials while exploring, you’ll soon be able to upgrade various melee weapons, firearms, and armor you discover on your travels. It’s a good idea to save your materials and use them on your favorite weapon (may we suggest the fire-based Harbinger Axe?), as this will increase your damage most directly.
If you explore as thoroughly as we’ve recommended (don’t let us down!), you should have enough materials to almost fully upgrade a weapon before you’ve even completed the game’s first map, which can be a significant help for what’s to come.
Be fruitful and multiply your reputation
One of FlintlockThe most unique feature of is the Battle Multiplier. This mechanism allows you to bet on how much reputation (experience) you will receive. By performing certain actions or defeating your enemies in different ways, you increase your battle multiplier (and therefore your total reputation earned) since your last payout.
You can redeem your reputation at any time by holding down the left button on your D-pad. This will give you both your earned base experience And the multiplied amount. However, if you sustain damage at any time before you redeem this amount, you will only Gain the base amount of experience and reset your combat multiplier.
Try your luck with this knowledge against enemies with predictable or simple movement patterns that you feel perfectly comfortable against without taking damage. However, if you’re about to face a boss or a difficult enemy that you’re not sure you can dodge or counter perfectly, you’re better off cashing in on your reputation than risk losing so much well-earned experience.
Explore, prepare, execute
You’ll get the Sniper Musket after just a few hours of playing. This long-range weapon lets you shoot enemies in the head from afar, so keep scanning new areas for enemies that might be lurking above you and take them out with a well-placed headshot – which usually kills them in a single shot.
However, this musket isn’t just useful for taking out enemies lurking above you. When approaching an area with enemies packed in on the ground, stand back and look around for any nearby explosive barrels you can shoot to gain the upper hand before jumping into close combat.
Use Enki constantly in battle
Enki is not only there, Flintlock— he’s an important part of your toolbox. By constantly using his curse attacks in battle – especially against more heavily armored enemies – you’ll fill up their Prime meter, allowing you to eventually perform a powerful critical attack. Additionally, you can equip Enki with cursed stones you find while exploring, giving him additional status effects to apply when he uses his attacks in battle. Applying these status effects to your enemies will make them much easier to defeat, making your adventure through Flintlock significantly less stressful.
Flintlock makes for a much more accessible experience than other Soulslikes out there. Still, you should take every possible opportunity to find new gear and fight more effectively in each battle.
