Over on EA’s support website, the publisher stated that after no later than Battlefield was revealed at E3 2021 that there has been a huge influx of players Battlefield 4. This has resulted in increased queues and waiting times for some people to jump in. To mitigate this, EA is increasing the server capacity for the game.

We were absolutely overwhelmed by your excitement and reactions to the last one Battlefield 2042 betray.
Since then, many of you have jumped back in Battlefield 4 to get a taste of the return to total warfare. We’ve watched your experience and found that the queues in the US West region were much longer than in other regions. Good news, we’ve increased server capacity for this region – you can wait less and play more.
We will continue to monitor waiting times and make further adjustments if necessary.

The most recent games in the online shooter franchise were set in older wars, such as Second World War. However, 2042 takes place in … well, 2042, during a war in the near future. This modern combat environment was last seen in. seen Battlefield 4. So the folks excited to return to this era of struggle jump back in BF4 to relive the joy of handling weapons with red dot sights and flying jets.
