Greta Gerwig is new Barbie The film has already made waves with its colorful trailers, bright pink outfit presentation and, of course, stunning Dreamhouse-inspired film set. It looks a lot like the Barbie dream house you might have played with as a child, adorned in a bright fuchsia hue. So much pink color was apparently used that there was an international shortage of the Rosco-branded paint color, production designer Sarah Greenwood said in an interview with Architectural Digest
“Preserving the ‘childhood’ was paramount,” Gerwig told Architecture Digest. “I wanted the pink tones to be very bright and it was all almost too much.” As a result, Greenwood said in the interview, “the world was running out of pink.”
The entire set is an absolute feast for the eyes, inspired by Palm Springs and especially mid-century modern and designers like Richard Neutra. But it was also an entirely new invention, helmed by Greenwood and set designer Katie Spencer (the two also worked on it). pride and Prejudice
“We literally created the alternate universe of Barbie Land,” Gerwig told Architectural Digest. This world obviously contained a lot of pink paint!
