I know a lot of people who would say a great strategy game set somewhere would be hell, but these people don’t know what they’re missing out on.
hell alone was announced overnight, and it’s the next League of Geeks game, the team behind the longstanding and very good Armello. Its official description reads:
Prepare for Solium Infernum, the grand strategy game of politics, intrigue and betrayal set in the ultimate arena of Hell.
As a mighty fallen Archfiend, sinister ruler of Hell’s infernal realm, you are a contender for the throne of Hell – the Great Dark Majesty is missing and the fevered Conclave demands that a replacement be declared. Command legions of terror, recruit champion praetors, perform sinister rituals, and outdo your rivals to become Hell’s new Dark Majesty.
A “Grand Strategy Game” is something like Crusader Kingsa title that challenges the player to do all sorts of things at the head of a faction, from managing the economy to relocating armies to deal with political intrigues. Imagine that, only here They compete to be the new guy Great Dark Majesty.
Now to the real thing fun part: th is is not a brand new game! Rather, it’s an attempt to do justice to one of the most interesting, if underrated, strategy games of the past 15 years. Designer Vic Davis, aka Cryptic Comet, released hell alone

If you see any similarities between the screenshot above and Armello, that’s no coincidence. League of Geeks boss Trent Kusters said GI.biz the “[Solium Infernum] was a great inspiration for Armello. So it’s a real honor. We know Vic [Davis] for years. And when it was us [thinking] ‘What are we doing for our next game?’ Ty Carey – my co-founder – just said, ‘Let’s do that, let’s talk to him.’”
Davis—who doesn’t seem to design games anymore and now sells donuts which sounds amazing– finally left League of Geeks “Acquire” the IP and do it “passed on the torch” to the Australian studio hoping to do so hell core experience (which led to this brilliant series Rock Paper Shotgun Back in the day) may find a wider, more appreciative audience after the revamp and get a new coat of paint.
The game is set to release on Steam sometime in 2023, and you can check out the movie trailer below:
