Ethan is the main protagonist of Resident Evil Village. He’s got a rough life what with all the dangerous monsters trying to kill him. Ethan’s hands seem to be the main target. They are being treated so badly that I am starting to suspect that someone at Capcom hates Ethan’s hands and wants to destroy them as much as possible.
I started playing Resident Evil Village This weekend, and I’ve only been in the game for three hours, Ethan’s poor hands have been bitten, bloody, pierced, cut, mutilated, and more. While all of this is only from the first few hours, I understand that some people don’t want anything to be spoiled like this …
One of the first things to happen when you reach the village is that a werewolf beast struck your hand. From there things kind of go downhill for Ethan’s poor hands. It takes a while before he can wrap his hand, and I can imagine that’s bad for wounds like this. I smell an infection.

Later, after a few more abuse, Ethan’s hands are handcuffed, which is frankly one of the most beautiful things that has happened to Ethan and his hands in years.
But after escaping this situation you get caught again and this time it’s a lot worse for Ethan’s paws. They are suspended from hooks that slide into the palms of your hands. Then Ethan tears his palms off the hooks, leaving large cuts in each hand.
Eventually, Ethan’s entire right hand is cut off while trying to flip a switch. Wish I could say this was the first time Ethan’s hand cut off but when you played Resident Evil 7 You know that is not true.
Ethan’s hands are penalized a couple of times in this game as well. They are stabbed, sliced and yes, at some point one of them is cut off in a gruesome scene.
If you’re wondering how Ethan can relate to missing hands and large wounds in this game, he’s lucky to have first aid medication in the resident Evil Universe is magical. It is able to reconnect its hands and heal larger wounds in seconds. Impressive stuff. Who Needs Health Insurance When You Have Green Herbs and Oil in a Bottle?
I am not even finished yet Resident Evil Village and Ethan’s hands have been through so much. I expect more to come. But not because of the first person shift that took place in RE7.
See originally, that was my theory for all of the hand trauma that Ethan endures. We only see Ethan’s hands most of the time, so I suspected the developers had to use his hands to show you all of the pain and agony Ethan is going through. But then the game strikes and stabs Ethan’s legs and upper body. It looks gruesome and is an effective way for developers to say, “Hey, this all sucks for him!”
Now, I think all of the hand trauma is due to one person in Capcom who the fuck hates hands and has the power to clean up this anger on poor Ethan.
