Unfortunately, it seems that Nintendo is completely done now helpless to leaks. So many first party games from the last few years have found their way online – either streamed or even ripped and playable on PC – a week or more ahead of their release. join them Pokemon scarlet and violet Has already seen a large number of leaks for the past few days but right now as I write this the entire game is being streamed live to over a thousand viewers.

Nintendo has been trying to put out fires all week, like more and more information about scarlet and violet appeared online including spoilers on how the trio of new starters will pan out. Thanks to the need to ship physical copies to stores (both online and brick-and-mortar) ahead of release, the good-for-nothings get hold of the game ahead of time, then snap up a moment of internet glory spoilers. But now it’s gotten a lot worse, with an hour-long stream of someone playing the entire game.

Look, it’s up to you, and obviously you can Check it out on Trovo (Tencent’s eerily familiar version of Twitch), but I really wouldn’t. I wore it to check out this story and have already seen later development of a starter that I really didn’t want to know, and seen a whole bunch of new (but not officially revealed) Pokemon. These are all surprises that I won’t see again when my copy arrives on the 18th.

Honestly, when I saw Quaxly – or Sergeant Duck to give him his real name – develop, I was thrown off the starter I actually wanted to play with. That sucks. And yes, I can confirm that those previous leaks are correct based on some tiny Pokédex pixel art.

Almost 12 hours into this stream, whoever the deeply awkward name “reeeetardkun” may be, surely must be tiring. But not before pretty much every secret from the game has found its way there. I’m not reporting them here, although God knows it’s going to be hard for all of us to avoid all sorts of mysteries over the next seven days.

It’s worth noting that I also saw the game completely crash on stream where each location just became a white screen except for popup information. Quitting and reloading fixed it, but yeah, that doesn’t bode well. However, Nintendo has announced that the game will receive a 1GB day-one patchso maybe such problems will be removed at startup?

Trovo is probably used for this, because Nintendo would have contacts on Twitch to switch it off hours ago. With 11 hours of gameplay out there, it’s going to be pretty pointless trying to stamp this one out. And, you know, perspective, it’s a video game: it’s very bad for Nintendo, but we just have to look the other way. And as much as I’d love to catch a glimpse of lots of new Pokémon, I’d rather have a few surprises in a week.
