It’s been a big week for Sonic the Hedgehog fans. We didn’t just get that Sonic X Shadow Generations Notice during Sony’s State of Play presentation, but we also have a new teaser and lots of casting news for the third live-action film, which will premiere on December 20th. This teaser used a Sonic Adventure 2-Logo reminiscent of the titular blue Blur and its black and red rival Shadow, who will play a prominent role in the film. But therein lies the problem: we still don’t know who plays the ultimate life form.
Shadow debuted in the live-action films Sonic the Hedgehog 2He didn’t have a say in the post-credits scene. It’s now been two years since that scene premiered and fans are dying to find out who plays Sonic’s fiercest rival. We didn’t receive this message today. Instead, we got a lot of other really exciting casting reveals that gave us some insight into the film. And while we don’t know who most of these people are playing, we can speculate.
Jim Carrey returns along with several newcomers Sonic the Hedgehog 3
The big headliner of the day was Jim Carrey, who had previously announced this playing with retirement after Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Instead, him returns to play Doctor Robotnik in the third film. The second film ended on a note that would have allowed the filmmakers to cut him from the story if necessary, but it doesn’t look like that would be necessary.
Over and beyond, IGN revealed several actors in unknown roles. Jessica Jones Actress Krysten Ritter leads the pack and fans are already speculating that she could play Rouge the Bat. If Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be a loose adaptation of Sonic Adventure 2Since it appears to be based on the logo, rouge is an important piece of this puzzle. She is a rival of Knuckles, voiced again by Idris Elba, and plays an important role in the game’s story.
The new cast also includes Alyla Browne, a young actress who will appear as a young version of Furiosa in the upcoming film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Anyone who knows the story Sonic Adventure 2 knows he’s looking for a young blonde girl because that’s what it is probably Maria, Robotnik’s cousin and an important character in Shadow’s plot. If Shadow is to appear in this film, Maria will have to appear in flashbacks. But I wonder how much of this story they’ll show in a family-friendly film, considering it has a more violent ending than the modern one sound usually portrayed.
Fans are eagerly waiting for the announcement of a Shadow actor
The rest of the announced cast is there IGNStories include James Wolk, Sofia Pernas, Cristo Fernández and Jorma Taccone. With each of them, there is less to speculate as they may be playing original characters. But chances are none of them are playing Shadow, and fans are begging Paramount to confirm who voices the brooding hedgehog.
All this follows some Rumors and speculations The war of stars Actor Hayden Christensen may voice Shadow, but there is no direct confirmation. Since Shadow’s first live-action reveal, there have been several fan castings over the past two years principle And Batman star Robert Pattinson, too John Wick And matrix Actor Keanu Reeves. But none of this has happened at this point. The film is still ten months away and it’s likely that Paramount will want to announce its cast separately. But damn, with every joke we get, I get more excited to know whose voice will say: “Where is that damn fourth Chaos Emerald?”
While we still have to wait almost a full year for the film, Shadow will be in the spotlight in the upcoming film Sonic X Shadow Generations Remaster will be released this fall and will feature new levels based on his past adventures. Sega is truly making 2024 the Year of the Shadow, and I’m here for it.
