Today is Sonic the Hedgehog‘S To celebrate the 32nd anniversary, Sega released a 20-minute Sonic Central showcase to talk about upcoming projects while also talking about the upcoming 2D recap Sonic SuperstarsDuring the show there were a lot of announcements unrelated to the game. If you want to watch the entire stream, you can exactly here. For those who just want to see the highlights, here’s everything you missed from the Sonic Central showcase.
Sonic Origins Plus
It was first looked at Sonic Origins Plusthe expanded version of the original Sonic Origins which brought together several classic games from the series’ 2D past. The compilation was released today, June 23rd, and includes 16 games and Amy Rose as a playable character.
Sonic Frontiers: Sonic’s Birthday Party Update
Sonic Frontiers is receiving new content as part of a birthday update called Sonic’s birthday party. Aside from Sonic getting some new cosmetic items like a party hat and cool sunglasses, there will also be some major changes to the game. One of the big innovations is New Game+, but it has been around for a long time sound Fans will also enjoy the return of the Spin Dash, which lets Sonic charge up into a ball for a quick boost. The update is free and available now.
Roblox: Sonic Speed Simulator
Sega is adding a new event to this Sonic speed simulator crossover in Roblox This will unlock a tuxedo-style Sonic skin. It’s playable today.
Sonic Prime
Sonic Prime, the Netflix animated series about a multiverse hopping version of Sonic and Friends, is getting new episodes on July 13th. The new trailer shows Sonic and Shadow working together and introduces a robotic variant of Sonic Multiverse. In addition to the new episodes, there is also Endless Runner Sonic Dash will join that Netflix game library as Sonic Prime Dashwhich will contain the different multiverse versions of the characters.
Mobile games updates
It took a moment for the display case to touch some of the cell phones sound games. Added Super Silver as a playable character sound forces And Sonic Dashand in July Sonic Dash receives Dragon Hunter Lancelot (a shadow variant of Sonic and the Black Knight). Classic Super Sonic will be added to the mobile games in the future, however the stream was vague on the details.
Samba de Amigo: Party Central
rhythm game Samba de Amigo: Party Central will contain two songs from the sound Series when it releases for Switch on August 29: Escape From the City by Sonic Adventure 2 and Fist Bump by sound forces. There will also be a stage based on City Escape Sonic Adventure 2as well as costumes and accessories based on the series, available in the digital deluxe edition.
Sonic Symphony dates
Sega announced dates for Sonic Symphony, a touring orchestra performing excerpts from the series’ story. The show was streamed while sound30th anniversarybut now fans can see the performance in person later this year and through 2024. tickets goes on sale June 28th at 10 a.m. Pacific Time / 1 p.m. Eastern Time. Sega has released episodes of tail pipea web series about Tails as a VTuber, on the sound YouTube channel and will be releasing new episodes “soon”.
Merchandise Hour
Next came the merchandise block which included: a Jakks Pacific playset featuring Sonic and Eggman fighting on the Death Egg, sound Crocs, a collaboration with streetwear brand Hypland that will be available June 26th, Sonic and Shadow Cable Guy controller holders, a statue of Sonic and Shadow from S-Fire, an ESP electric guitar with art of the classic Sonic, an Igloo sound Playmate Cooler, an IDW one-shot comic starring Amy for her 30th anniversary, and five new Lego playsets based on the series, out August 1st.
Eggman raps
Series antagonist Doctor Ivo Robotnik hijacked the stream to deliver a few bars about being a bad guy who does bad things, revealing his new Lego minifigure and then asking people to use the hashtag Using #makelegosonicmoreeggman to show Lego to make and release the Eggman-ified Sonic set you see above. Yes, it’s the fuel of a nightmare, but if I had to see it, you would too.
Sonic Superstars
The conclusion of the show was Sonic Superstars, the upcoming 2D game that aims to modernize the classic formula with a 3D art style. Along with a brief look at the game, Sega also released an interview with original character designer Naoto Ohshima and Sonic Team creative director Takashi Iizuka about the game. It’s mostly fluff, but you can see the extended version, which isn’t in the stream above.
The last announcement was that Sega is working with Lego to bring the Eggman minifigure to the game for those who pre-order the game.
Sega reminds you that Shadow will be in the next movie without showing him
Those who saw it Sonic the Hedgehog 2 know that Shadow will appear and play a part in the post-credits scene Sonic the Hedgehog 3. At the end of the show, Ivo Gerscovich, the series’ Chief Brand and Business Officer, says to “keep an eye out for the third movie” and reminds us that “Shadow the Hedgehog” will be featured. But I’ll be careful, Ivo, but I’d like to see him now, thanks.
