In A Most Strange Situation, exclusively for the PlayStation console, death stranding, is coming to Microsoft’s PC Game Pass. Subscribers to the latter service will soon be able to fall down a hill at no extra cost.
The news was announced by Microsoft via a decent tweetwhich features a “Porter Bridges”-esque Sam carrying a metal suitcase across an airfield and bearing a sticker that reads “DEATH STRANDING – PC GAME PASS – AUGUST 23, 2022”.
Published by Sony, the 2019 Wobbly Man simulator has been available on PC for a number of years and was ported eight months after its original release. That was via Italian publisher 505 Games, and that company signed the deal with Kojima Productions to see the game perform on PC Game Pass.
Despite 505, a PC version of the Director’s Cut will also be released death stranding The game, which is coming to Microsoft’s subscription service later this year, is described in a press release as “the original version of Hideo Kojima’s critically acclaimed and genre-defying epic.”
The game about being a courier with labyrinthitis [sub: please check] carrying a baby around his neck is universally revered and notable for Kojima’s distinct, esoteric approach to game development. It’s possibly the world’s most expensive walking simulator, as Sam Porter Bridges’ job is to transport packages without hurting them (or yourself) too much. And of course, a lot of wild supernatural shit happens. This is a Kojima game. The Game Pass version will support all of that social beauty, allowing you to indirectly support other players as you go.
Of course, it’s not coming to Xbox’s Game Pass. That would be too much of a departure from reality since the game was not (and probably never) released on Xbox consoles. However, it’s available on Sony’s recently relaunched PS Plus, where you can get both this original version and last year’s Director’s Cut as part of the membership.
It’s all happening on August 23, and it’s worth noting that you can subscribe to PC Game Pass for a single dollar for the first month. so you know death stranding for a dollar is a good deal! (Just don’t forget to set this reminder on your phone for a month to cancel before it switches to full price.)
You can imagine Sony being pissed, but it’s also worth remembering that the company has been making strides in bringing more of its content to PC platforms lately.
