Ashoka Tano’s new Disney Plus series isn’t too far away, and we now know who her villain will be: Thrawn. The infamous Imperial admiral will appear live in the series for the first time, and Lucasfilm announced at the Star Wars Celebration that he will be played by Danish actor Lars Mikkelsen – Thrawn’s original voice actor from the Star Wars animated series.
Joining Mikkelsen in the series’ villain cast is Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, the antagonist of the episode of The Mandalorian‘s second season, which first introduced Rosario Dawson’s live-action Ahsoka. Ray Stevenson and Ivanna Sakhno will play lightsaber-wielding villains named Baylon and Shin, but series creator Dave Filoni was reluctant to reveal much about these characters on the panel.
Mikkelsen has steadfastly maintained his casting Ahsoka Secret, keep denying to emphasize that he was approached to reprise his famous role. The convention audience was treated to an extended version of yesterday’s trailer, this time featuring Mikkelsen’s blue-painted face as Thrawn, to rapturous cheers.
It has also been confirmed that David Tennant will be returning to his role as the droid Huyang in the animated series.
