Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will bring back some fan-favorite characters from its predecessor, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, according to a story-focused trailer released by Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts on Monday. But the game will do more than just give Cal Kestis pals Merrin and Greez Ditzus some extra screen time in the sequel, it’ll also be making a comeback, apparently…Klaud.

Klaus is, of course, the limbless alien mechanic introduced in war of stars: rise Skywalker, which Dominic Monaghan hugs in the celebration scene after the film’s climax. Klaud fans have discovered him – or one of his trodatom Brothers – hidden in a Food: Survivor Ad that recently ran on Snapchat. Is it The Klaus? Yes. Could it be another alien that isn’t Klaud? Also yes. See, let’s just agree that this guy, and all the guys who look like him in the Star Wars universe, are named Klaud.

While the reveal of Klaud in the background of an ad last week was big news for Klaud fans, his cameo is in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was teased a month ago. In the video below, promoting Survivor pre-orders, we see Cal Kestis beating up a Super Battle Droid while wearing Obi-Wan Kenobi’s gear. There, behind all the lightsaber-on-droid action, is good old Klaud.

What will Klaud in Food: Survivor? This is unclear because Klaud’s role in Rise of Skywalker consists primarily of set dressing and comic relief. Supposedly he’s a mechanic, but it’s not clear How Klaud fixes things. Its sensory antennae could probably detect that something isn’t working right, but with only a pair of flippers for feet, it’s a mystery how it could help Cal Kestis and his friends.

We’ve contacted Respawn Entertainment about the dirt on Klaud and will update when the developer responds.

Klaud didn’t get much screen time Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalkeronly 34 seconds — but lived on as an adorable meme long after we’d forgotten the events of JJ Abrams’ 2019 sequel. Known as “Live Slug Response‘ the meme experts at Know Your Meme explain in the following video.
