Sometimes when everything is on fire and there is no end in sight, it’s nice to have a sane moment to remind ourselves that there are still beacons in this cruel world. I think this clip from Twitch Streamer AjentVee Super-mega-ultra-excitement about finding a rare Pokémon is spot on. Let’s look.

Kind!

Correct?

Wait … you don’t understand? No Pokémon Fan?

Okay sorry let me break it down for you cause it’s wild.

AjentVee has spent the last month tracking down a “shiny” Sinistea in Pokémon sword and shield as part of their overall goal of capturing an entire Pokédex value of these elusive, alternately colored pocket monsters. But that’s not all: she also wanted her Sinistea to be “authentic,” which means she’s one of the select few members of her kind and has a rare mark on the bottom of her teacup.

This shot from AjentVees Stream shows the small authenticity mark on the bottom of Sinistea's cup.

This means that every time AjentVee came across a Sinistea, there was a one in 500,000 chance that it was both “shiny” and “authentic”. By their own assessmentIt only took 4,000 tries so I’d say she was lucky! Not only that, but the Sinistea, which turned out to be authentic, was the first shine she encountered that day, and that in just 11 minutes in her stream.

Oh, and AjentVee was able to tell on the inventory screen that it is authentic, as only authentic Sinistea evolves with the Chipped Pot item, hence the “compatible” one that appears under the Pokémon on the left side of the screen. The counterfeit strains use a cracked pot instead. And the development of this shiny, authentic Sinistea will also give her a shiny, authentic Polteageist. Two birds with one stone!

I had to smile when AjentVee celebrated their discovery and I hope you feel the same when we head off for the weekend.
