Well, here's something I didn't expect: Valve has finally revealed what Team Fortress 2The spy looks like he is under his mask. And it turns out he's damn good looking!
Valve's still-popular class-based team shooter came out in 2007, which felt like three lifetimes ago at this point. Since then, Valve has gradually built up a lot of lore and history for the characters featured in the game, including all of the red team mercenaries such as Doctor and Heavy. Much of this storytelling has taken place in sporadically published comics since 2009 . For example, Heavy has a sister and she ends up falling in love with Soldier! Anyway, suddenly, almost seven years after the sixth edition, Valve released the seventh main part TF2 comic series and eventually revealed Spy's face.
And uh, yes, there are minor spoilers for issue seven below. Consider this your final warning.
After 17 years of playing Team Fortress 2it's very strange to finally watch Spy without his mask. But you can see that below.
The man in the suit is Spy, sitting on a couch after giving his mask to his young daughter. (Yes, Spy has a daughter and Soldier got married. A lot happened in the comics!)
Beyond revealing Spy's face, This is a huge moment for TF2 fansThis seventh edition also feels like a farewell to Valve. Many plot threads tie together in this issue in a satisfying, if somewhat rushed, way.
Nevertheless, I'm happy that Valve is finally doing this TF2 Comic and its story. Will we get more? TF2 Comics in the future? Maybe, but as far as the franchise's main overarching plot goes (yes, it did develop one after all), it seems to be done. And that's nice. Maybe now that this is complete, Valve can also bring another franchise and its storylines to a conclusion. I'm talking about Half-life 3. I want to play Half-life 3. Please.
You can read the entire comic for free by clicking this link. But first I would suggest reading the editions that came before it.
