Tears of the Kingdom paragliding trick will have you flying forever

So you overestimated how much stamina you’d have left once you paraglide over Hyrule with the Link. Don’t worry: if you have a Zonai Wing in your inventory from a Zonai Donor, you’re in luck. While it takes a bit of practice to get the physics right, falling safely from your paraglider onto a Zonai Wing will restore your stamina and allow you to travel some distance before you can take off again. With enough wings, you can paraglide almost forever. Seriously.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom takes place in a sprawling open world with huge heights and distances to cover. Like its predecessor breath of the wild, DeadK has a handful of easy survival challenges, and overcoming protagonist Link’s stamina is one of them. As you scale surfaces, sprint across open plains, swim, and hold on to your paraglider to travel long distances, your stamina meter will decrease. Once it runs out, you’ll be in trouble climbing, swimming, or paragliding. When paragliding, you just start falling – and from a long enough distance, it’s certain death. But as it turns out, one of the game’s newest gadgets can quickly regain your stamina in the air.

How to paraglide forever with Zonai Wings

I saw this technique for the first time on Reddit, courtesy of user Temporary_Process_37. It all seems pretty simple: while paragliding, deploy a Zonai wing so it spawns beneath you, release the paraglider, and relax as your stamina regenerates. However, it’s easy to screw up if you’re not careful, so let’s go through it step by step.

Of course, for this to work, you must do this the paraglider, as well as a Zonai Wing in your inventory (I’ll highlight one place where you can find Wings in a moment). And until you get the hang of it Practice landing on the Zonai Wing with a quarter (or more) of your remaining Stamina. At first, it’s easy to miss the landing and fall even further. Using a wing in free fall doesn’t work, so you need to have some stamina left in case you screw up. Once you get used to it, you can do this to the point of exhausting your stamina.

When paragliding, reduce your speed by leaving the left stick in the neutral position. If you push it forward to gain speed, the wing will not deploy in the right place (same if you pull the stick backward) and you’ll fall. You know it’s safe to deploy the wing when there are no contrails (the white stripes) at the ends of your paraglider. If you see these, you are moving too fast. Press up on the directional pad and select the Zonai Wing.

If you’re flying at the right speed, the Zonai wing will deploy right in front of you and descend low enough for you to land safely. You can relax on the wing for as long as you like, provided the ride is going in the direction you want. Depending on which direction you’re going, it’s a bit difficult to jump off the wing as you might just land back on it. To continue your paragliding hassle-free instead, simply exit the Zonai wing.

Where to Find Deployable Zonai Wings

Zonai Wings can be found scattered throughout the game, but you can’t just grab one and put it in your inventory. You need to find a Zonai donor. Throw in some Zonai Charges and you’ll get a random selection of orbs containing any number of Zonai Devices. You can get Zonai Charges from slain enemy Constructs (fast travel back to the Great Sky Isle and smash a few if you’re small and haven’t reached other Sky Isles yet).

The Zonai Dispenser in the starting area doesn’t have wings, but you don’t even have to go to a sky island to get one. you must have Activated the first Skyview Tower in Lookout Landing and got the paraglider in the process. Once you’ve done this, Go to the easternmost objective of the Regional Phenomena quest towards Lanayru and look for the Upland Skyview Tower. Once you get there, things get a little tricky.

On your way you will probably discover accumulations of rubbish. This nasty mud falling from the sky will block the entrance to the tower. But don’t worry, just grab a squirt fruit (they’re found everywhere on plants) and attach a weapon to it. Attack the mud with this Splashfruit fused weapon and you’ll clear the area (you can also use the same technique to help the poor guy stuck under the mud a few steps from the tower).

Enter and let the tower launch you into the sky (when you enter this tower for the first time, you will go through the terrain scanning animation). Once you’re in free fall, Look down and see a spinning orb. you want to go there.

Once you’re on the surface of the sphere, walk around a bit to find the opening and drop into it. Here you’ll find a Zonai Dispenser, some Zonai Devices, and the Jirutagumac Shrine. I recommend completing this shrine as it will get you used to using Zonai wings (and it’s a lot of fun).

This dispenser will give you wings. Enter as many Zonai loads as you like. Throw in just one charge and you’ll get a random Zonai device. So you’re better off throwing in two or three charges, if not more, not only to get more gadgets, but also to increase the chances of a wing failing.

To get out of the big sphere, either jump through the opening you came in through or stop the crank in the middle of the room by using Ultrahand and disconnecting the Zonai fan. You can operate the crank manually to position the exit just like that. This is actually a good place to practice the paraglider to zonai wing trick

The great thing about this little technique is that it takes a bit of practice, so it’s far from a broken or cheap way of traveling and can easily save you if you’ve misjudged how much stamina you have left. Remember to reduce your speed before deploying the wing!
