The art behind Chobanis Dear Alice Commercial

I know this commercial is a few months old now, but I just stumbled upon Chobanis Dear Alice the other day, and was absolutely blown away by it.

Sure how good it looked. While much has been made of the Studio Ghibli inspiration – right down to the frequent Ghibli contributor Joe Hisaishi to compose the score – it was just an incredibly impressive animation.

I also liked the setting. I understand things are bad and getting worse in the real world, but not every vision of our future has to include a climate apocalypse. Sometimes it’s nice to dream of a future where we can get our shit together together, and it’s all the little things this clip shows – from the fake rain clouds to the floating wind turbines (or carbon washers?) – that get me really touched.
