After years of dominating the streaming charts, The office will leave Netflix on January 1, 2021 to find his new home on Peacock. In the nine years that The office was on Netflix, millions of fans discovered it, and millions more watched it again, sometimes dozens of times.
But do not worry. If you’re scrolling through Netflix looking for sitcoms to fill that Dunder Mifflin-shaped hole in your heart, there are plenty of other great options (and some less great) still available. Here are five sitcoms you can watch on Netflix.
Arrested development
Arrested development follows a wealthy family trying to prepare for a new life after their patriarch was jailed for a litany of financial crimes. Arrested development is also one of the funniest sitcoms ever made. It has a stellar cast of characters and dialogue that often manages to get two or three jokes into every single line. In addition, half of the jokes were fundamental to online culture, and some of them are still there popular memes til today. Do yourself a favor and quit after watching season 3. Netflix’s attempt to restart the show couldn’t match the magic of the original run.
The good place
Created by Michael Schur who wrote for The office, created Parks and recreationand played The office‘s Mose Schrute – The good place is a slightly more existential comedy than the rest of the shows on this list. Initially, The good place follows a woman named Eleanor who dies and is taken to Good Place, a perfect heavenly paradise. But Eleanor realizes she was brought there by mistake and needs to hide her flaws and improve to adjust. The show blurs the lines between sitcoms and serialized TV shows, picking up heavy themes like death without ever sacrificing the fun and comedy that brings it to make watching 12 episodes a breeze.
Community
Community is such a good pairing with The office that NBC originally aired them together on Thursday night. Community follows a group of students all for one reason or another attending Greendale, the worst community college in the world. Similar to The office, CommunityThe greatest strength is the large and always entertaining cast of characters and supporting characters, who sometimes join together to form surprising groups for their own adventures. But what does Community The special thing is how strange these adventures are. Whether it is musical episodes, action film parody episodes or animated Christmas specials, Community has some of the best episode premises of any sitcom of all time.
New girl
Of all the sitcoms on this list New girl is the most traditional and has the most similar rhythm to it The office. It’s another ensemble comedy, this time about a girl who moves into an apartment with a group of men she barely knows. The real highlight of the show is the back and forth between all roommates when they throw one-off jokes or light and playful insults out of the fire. Just like when you look again The office For the zillionth time, the show is more about spending time with the characters you love than the things they do episode after episode.
Schitt’s Creek
On the tracks of Arrested development, Schitt’s Creek is also a story about a rich family who loses everything … except in this case they get to keep the very small town of Schitt’s Creek, which the family bought as a joke when they were rich. However, after the family’s sudden bankruptcy, they are forced to move to town and live in a motel. The series was created by stars Eugene and Dan Levy, who started the show on the premise of taking a family like the Kardashians and taking all their money away. While the concept may sound harsh, the show turns out to be both fun and surprisingly healthy as the family learns to love one another without all of the wealth they used to enjoy.
