The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley’s annual shebang to celebrate video games, is always one large Act.
Every year the awards show brings the who’s who of the video game world together to celebrate video games. The result is a marathon of a show that brings together new game announcements, live music performances, and cameos from celebrities allegedly interested in video games.
Still, the Game Awards 2021 managed to be the biggest show to date. No! We’re not referring to the length of the show (the preliminary and main show ran over three hours) or the number of people present (it was personal again this year).
What we mean by “biggest so far” is that literally a ton of giants were featured during the games. Behemoths, Kaijus, whatever you want to call them, they were there! So Polygon decided to make a list of them – here are all of the giants featured at The Game Awards, sorted by size in the trailers.
1. Huge floating Brainiac head from Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
WB Games and Rocksteady Studios showed this giant terrorizing the city in a new gameplay of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. I’m not sure if it’s a giant robotic spaceship or a lone monster. Regardless, it gets the top spot on this list as it is literally the size of an entire city.
2. The Conqueror of the Stars, General Radahn, from Elden Ring
We have a new lore trailer for Elden ring. It showed this guy, the Conqueror of the Stars, General Radahn with luscious, long curly hair and two very large swords. His body is big, but his hair is bigger – which prompts us to give him second place.
3. A d isgusting troll in Senua’s saga: Hellblade 2
While the giant in the new Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 The gameplay video wasn’t the biggest we saw last night, it wins bonus points for making it look scary. The clip showed Senua and others trying in vain to destroy it with fire.
4. Nightingale showed us a peaceful (?) Giant
nightingale is a new survival game set in a Victorian fantasy era from Improbables Edmonton studio. Instead of having to fight a giant boss, we experienced a peaceful moment between human and giant. Although we later see a giant destroy a settlement, there may have been some kind of argument.
5. Tiny Tina grows to mammoth proportions
As it turns out, Tiny Tina isn’t always that small. A new story trailer for Tiny Tina’s wonderland showed the witch blown up to gigantic proportions. It’s so big that all the characters look like mere figures.
6. Will Arnett next to Ashly Burch
Actors Will Arnett and Ashly Burch attended the awards ceremony to share the new trailer Tiny Tina’s wonderland. According to Celebhöhewiki, Will Arnett is 6 feet 2 inches tall but looks a lot taller next to Burch. He might as well be a giant.
7. That bearded giant in Cuphead’s DLC
Studio MDHR finally got us a release date for. given Cuphead‘s DLC, The delicious last course. The developers have promised new battles against huge bosses that take up a lot of screen in the DLC – and it looks like they will deliver.
