Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn may not have as many weapons as other, more traditional Soulslikes, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t choices to be had when it comes to character creation. From axes and hammers to a selection of unique firearms, you’ll definitely have to put a little thought into your choices before heading into battle.

While the best weapon for you is obviously the one you enjoy using the most, we believe the following options are the best choice for most builds.
FlintlockThe best melee weapons from
Melee weapons are your daily bread in Flintlockso you’ll want to make sure the weapon you use fits your playstyle. Here are the two weapons we think are best for most close-combat scenarios.
Axe of the Harbinger
TThe Harbinger Axe is the best all-round melee weapon you can findIt combines hard attacks with a burning effect that stacks on your enemies and deals damage over time.

Inflicting this status effect should make it easier to move from one enemy to the next when they’re nearly dead. The lingering burn damage will take out vulnerable enemies while you turn your attention to the next threat. Just remember that you have to destroy the enemy’s armor before the burn damage starts hitting them.
You can find the Harbinger’s Axe in a chest in Three Peaks, right after using the first Breach Barrel during the Defender of the Living quest.
Judge’s gavel
The Judge’s Hammer is the best melee weapon in Flintlock to break through enemy armor. Since this is required in so many encounters, especially later in the game, it never hurts to have this weapon handy. Just keep in mind that your attacks will be much slower than with an axe. It’s not a bad idea to switch back to your Harbinger’s axe once you’ve broken through the armor of nearby enemies.
You can find the Judge’s Gavel in a chest in the southern part of the city of Writ.
FlintlockThe best weapons of
On your travels you will find a variety of weapons in Flintlock. They’re essential for interrupting your opponents’ unblockable attacks, getting headshots on enemy snipers, and even dealing decent damage moment to moment, especially if you build your character with a focus on long-range attacks. Here are the two weapons we think are best for most situations.
Nors Pistol
Sometimes simplicity is best. Nor’s pistol certainly lacks the unique extra effects or modifications that set it apart like many of the later pistols you’ll find. However, this weapon’s three powder charges and rapid firing make it an excellent choice for interrupting incoming attacks, taking out low-health baddies, or taking out an enemy shooting at you nearby while you’re engaged in close combat.
Nor’s pistol is the starting weapon in Flintlock.
Sniper musket
Simplicity is also key with the Sniper Musket. This weapon lets you effortlessly get nice headshots to take out snipers from a distance. And with a little practice, you can even use it at medium range against slower enemies and deal massive damage.
Even better, If you reload perfectly, your next shot will do double damage. While the other secondary weapons you’ll come across may be better suited to certain scenarios, this simple musket is a great choice to have on hand at all times.
The Sniper Musket is given to Nor by Baz early in the game as part of a tutorial.
FlintlockThe combination of axes and firearms makes for interesting combat during Nor’s quest for vengeance against the gods. The weapons here are great for staying alive while destroying your enemies.
