In films, robots are often portrayed as harbingers of something evil, whether they are evil and want to take over the world (Terminator, Me, robot, The Matrixetc.) or are exploited by people (Blade Runner, Ex Machina, AI Artificial Intelligenceetc.). But robots aren’t all bad – they can also be fun, cute, and family-friendly.
Kids (and adults) love assembling robot toys and figuring out how different components interact and fit together. Robots have been an important part of children’s films for years, especially before the turn of the millennium, with films like Bicentennial man And Inspector gadget Arriving in the late 90s. While they may not be the largest, they reflect the ingenuity that makes robots exciting for children.
The wild robotwhich tells the story of a robot who learns to live in the forest and befriends an adorable little gosling, is coming to theaters September 27th. The main roles are played by Pedro Pascal, Stephanie Hsu and Mark Hamill. The film will enter the lexicon of children’s films about robot friends.
