But how about a new sci-fi movie, or at least a good movie that you can watch in the comfort of your own home? Don’t worry: we’ve put together just the right list of options for you!
Every month we compile a list of the best sci-fi films available to stream on Netflix. For this month, we’ve rounded up a trio of sci-fi films, each tackling the theme of déjà vu in their own way. We have a neo-noir thriller starring Ethan Hawke (Moon Knight) and Sarah Snook (Consequence), a legacy sequel to one of the most important sci-fi franchises of the early 2000s and a “so bad it’s good” superhero film starring Dakota Johnson.
Let’s take a look at what this month has to offer!

Ethan Hawke plays opposite the then future Consequence Star Sarah Snook in this mind-bending sci-fi game. Adapted from Robert A. Heinlein’s short story “All You Zombies” predestination The film stars Hawke as an agent of a secret organization on a mission to capture a notorious terrorist known as the Fizzle Bomber. As part of his mission, the agent is tasked with recruiting an abandoned writer (Snook) with an extraordinary life story.
I can’t go into the details of the story without risking giving away its many twists and turns, but what I can say is that Hawke and Snook give great performances as two lonely people brought together by truly extraordinary circumstances. If you’re looking for an unconventional and deeply moving science fiction story with a captivating mystery and a provocative ending, then look no further. predestination is this month’s science fiction film to watch. —Toussaint Egan

In the almost three years since its release The Matrix Resurrections has become one of the most interesting and striking films of the Legacyquels era. It masterfully walks the line between confronting the legacy of the original Matrix films and questioning the entire industry that might make a return to a franchise a decade after it ended possible or even necessary. The film dares to ask what kind of cultural stagnation the studios might have forced us into if we haven’t developed new heroes in all this time.
Of course, it’s more than just his metaphors. And in keeping with the tradition of the Matrix series: Resurrections is also just an absolutely stunning action film. And despite all the clever industry-wide criticisms of the film, it’s hard to deny the sheer cinematic joy of seeing Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss on screen together again. Just because of the conflict of these two feelings, Resurrections

This is less a recommendation for a movie and more a recommendation for an experience. I’m definitely on the thinking list Madam Web is a bad film. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with this particular brand of bad. That being said, you probably won’t have much fun watching the movie alone on your couch on a Saturday night. But if you can organize the right group of friends, the right refreshments and the right attitude, Madam Web is a near-perfect movie to stream on Netflix and make jokes about.
If for some reason you want a more serious reason to watch this, then keep in mind that the plot may have some relevance to the series Kraven the Huntera film that is supposedly coming out on December 13th. —AG
