More than 350,000 Call of Duty accounts have been banned for “racist names or toxic behavior” Call of Duty: War Zone, Black Ops Cold War, Modern Warfare, and Call of Duty: Mobile, after a Contribution from the developers of the series On Wednesday.
The bans have been in place for the past 12 months and were based on “player-submitted reports and a thorough review of our database of player names,” the post said.
“We strive to provide a fun gaming experience for all of our players. There is no place in our games or in our society for toxic behavior, hate speech or harassment of any kind, ”the report said.
In addition to the bans, the team said they have implemented new filters in the game to “intercept potentially offensive usernames, clan tags, or profiles” and “filter out potentially offensive text chats”.
Activision has historically had to take proactive steps to moderate the Call of Duty community. The developers had previously set up accounts to curb rampant fraud War zone –
“There’s a lot more to be done, including improving the reporting capabilities and moderation of players, and addressing voice chat to combat toxicity,” the developers said.
