So much how i enjoyed it Battlefield 2042I’m also aware that most longtime fans have the series not I enjoyed the game’s launch, endowed with a long list of complaints ranging from the game’s lack of polish to its overallness feel. And while DICE has been slowly working on some of these smaller issues (like adding a scoreboard), the first actual, major changes to the game are on the way.
In a blog post on the game’s websiteEA’s Adam Freeman has written about a number of changes being made (or contemplated). to the 2042 cards. Now that the team has spent a few months of solid gameplay in-game looking at it, they’ve been able to see what worked and what didn’t, and will be doing things like adding more cover for infantry and creating more obvious paths between the goals.
Some of these will involve small changes, like simply raising the terrain in some places, while others will be fairly extensive, like removing entire sections of buildings (like the Distribution Center on Renewal, above) or turning a pavilion into a military facility (on Kaleidoscope ).
In addition to the map adjustments, DICE will also make changes to the organization and distribution of vehicles:
We’re reducing the number of combat vehicles and helicopters that can be active at any given time in 128-player modes per category from 3 to 2. That means you can only encounter 2 tanks and 2 attack helicopters available at a time, instead of 3 each.
We’re increasing the cooldown for combat vehicles and helicopters from 60 to 120 seconds.
As previously mentioned, the MD540 Nightbird will be moved from the transport to attack helicopter category, and the MC5 Bolte will also be moved from the transport to attack vehicle category.

As someone who loves to drive a tank/wildcat, this reduction in the number of assault vehicles on the map at any given time kinda sucks, especially since the infantry already got more protection from admittedly overpowered vehicles. But hey, I’ll also wait and see if it improves the situation for infantry players before getting it to critical.
So when can we expect this stuff to hit? Cryptically, some of this is coming soon, while other parts will be months away as Season 1 doesn’t start until the summer, let alone Season 2:
Today we discussed several changes that we will make not only to the maps but also to the gameplay, e.g. B. how often or how many vehicles you will see on the battlefield.
The first changes we will be making will be to vehicle play and availability, and these will be available in the next update. After that, you’ll see the first updates to the flag, base spawn locations, and cover and line of sight on Kaleidoscope and Renewal. These changes will arrive during Season 1, and as we get closer to delivering these updates we’ll be able to share full details.
We’re now beginning to bring these same update standards to our other launch maps, along with the necessary visual changes to make all maps feel battle-ready. There’s a lot of work involved, so expect we’ll be discussing more of these updates in Season 1 and the changes themselves in Season 2.
