If sci-fi comedy shooter High in life Released on Game Pass in 2022, it quickly became one of the service’s biggest hits. And now, after all that success, one of the game’s actors, JB Smoove, is using his newly formed production studio to create an animated TV show based on the FPS.
High in life was released on Xbox and PC in 2022 and hit Game Pass on day one. (It came to PlayStation later in 2023.) The raunchy cartoon sci-fi shooter was developed by Squanch Games, a studio owned by Rick and Morty
On August 5th Deadline reported that Smooves Alternate Side Productions – which the actor founded last year – is one of the companies involved in the production of the animated High in life Show. In addition to Smoove, Russell Binder and Mandy Bardisbanian of Striker Entertainment will serve as producers. Alec Robbins, the narrative director of High in life
“[Squanch Games] invited me to join them in the gaming universe and now I’m helping them move into the TV world! It’s a case of game recognizing game,” Smoove said in a statement to Deadline.

In 2022, just one month after High in life became the biggest Game Pass hit of the yearStudio co-founder Justin Roiland left Squanch Games after it became known that he charged with two counts of domestic violenceHe was also fired from Rick and Morty And Solar opposites, Shows he co-created and voiced characters in. In March 2023, Roiland’s domestic violence case dismissed due to “lack of sufficient evidence”. Roiland does not appear to be involved in the new show.
Currently, there is no word on a release date or platform for the newly announced show. It is also not confirmed if Smoove will have an acting role, although Deadline reports that he will likely lend his voice to the animated series.
