Magic: The Assembly Arena, the online multiplayer version of the popular trading card game, was launched today in early access for selected Android devices via Google play, with an iOS version slated for later this year. Playing involves a squint, but now it’s even harder to put it down.
I played a little Magic: The Assembly Arena on my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultraand while the display is still quite small for large mobile devices, the game is very playable. Some familiarity with which cards have which art helps, but the map zoom is just a tap away. The mobile version offers cross-play with the PC version, and both share the same account, so progress is carried over. The main difference is that it is now much more comfortable to play on the toilet, ride the bus, camp in an area with a good signal, or use the toilet on a bus at a campsite. Here is a trailer.
Well, to see if I can resist the urge to buy an Android tablet before the iPad version releases later this year.
