A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, an upcoming horror game from Saber and Stormind Games, contains a nice and spooky feature. If you have a microphone enabled, the monsters in the game can hear you coughing and screaming in real life, just like in the movies.
The Quiet place The film franchise started in 2018 A quiet place, a horror film about people trying to survive after alien monsters invade Earth. The creatures are incredibly fast and deadly, but cannot see or smell and rely solely on sound to hunt their prey. Therefore, survivors must remain calm or else they will be killed by the aliens. And in the upcoming video game based on the films, you as a player will also have to be calm. Otherwise the digital monsters will hear you and attack.

On October 9th Saber Interactive has released a new trailerr for A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead and revealed an optional in-game feature: “Microphone Sound Detection.”
This is how the publisher explained the function in a press release.
By activating your microphone, this optional feature allows the game’s deadly creatures to detect any noise you make in real life, bringing the horror straight to your room. Get a glimpse of what it’s like when every sound can give you away with the new live-action trailer “Survive in Silence”!
So yes, if you are playing the game with the feature enabled and your phone rings or you sneeze, that could be enough noise to attract the attention of an evil alien monster, likely resulting in the death of your game character.
I love when games use microphones like this, and it feels like it’s a perfect fit for this franchise. Examples from the past that come to mind are: Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
I’m all for these strange features as they add a whole new level to the gameplay. But I’m also happy with most of them, like in the Quiet place game, are optional. Otherwise I would often get killed because my cat comes in and meows to get attention.
A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead will be released on October 17th on Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC.
