The year is 2021 and the internet breathes a collective sigh of relief every time we receive confirmation that Chris Pratt does not seem to be an actor tied to a project.
Netflix announced in 2018 that it was developing an anime based on Devil May Cry, Capcom’s action franchise, and directed by Adi Shankar, producer of the streaming service’s Castlevania anime. Shankar posted some information about the status of the Devil May Cry anime in one current interview with IGN
“I can also confirm that Chris Pratt won’t be voicing any of the characters,” Shankar told IGN after saying that popular characters from the Devil May Cry games would appear in the anime.
The hilarious comment refers to the recent news about Pratt’s casting in two animated films: as Garfield in an unnamed Sony Pictures film and as Mario in Illuminations animated feature-length Mario film.
Pratt has become the focus of fans online lately – this week he posted a photo of him and his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, on Instagram with a zesty caption that split the internet. He previously went on Twitter to reassure people that he was working hard to play Mario when Nintendo announced its casting.
After his Garfield casting, he did became a literal meme where people were joking fake announcements for his casting. Any animated show could be a fair game with a role voiced by Chris Pratt. So it only makes sense that Shankar, who is also the executive producer of the animated Netflix Castlevania Series, want to calm our fears.
