The new Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 proves it’s about to get confusing

I don’t need to tell you call of Duty Franchise is very popular. Likewise, you are already aware that the Modern Warfare sub-franchise within call of Duty is also quite successful. So it’s no surprise that we’re getting another one Call of Duty Modern Warfaree, this is a sequel to the 2019 MW reboot. However, did you know that this is actually the 10th Modern Warfare game and the fourth that ends in a 2? What kind of world do we live in…

Yesterday, after much speculation and many rumoursInfinity Ward and Activision officially announced that the next entry will be in the long run call of Duty franchise would be titled Modern Warfare II. We even got a new logo for the upcoming shooter. It is in order. It’s a fine logo. Go on.

Now we don’t know much about this game apart from the fact that it’s a 2019 sequel Modern Warfare reboot. I assume there will be guns. Some multiplayer modes. Probably a cool mission with night vision goggles or tanks. You know, call of Duty Shit. But while I can’t predict the future, at least not yet, I can look to the past and unravel the mad web of a franchise that Activision created with the Modern Warfare Series.

Here is the full list of call of Duty games they use the Modern Warfare Surname. Some of them are mobile ports or handheld spin-offsbut they are all officially labeled “Modern Warfare‘ on the front of the box, so count them in my book:

  1. Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare
  2. Modern warfare 2
  3. Modern Warfare 3
  4. Modern Warfare Reflex Edition
  5. Modern warfare mobilized
  6. Modern Warfare remastered
  7. Modern Warfare 2 remastered
  8. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2: Force Reconnaissance
  9. Modern Warfare (2019 Reboot)
  10. Modern Warfare II (Restart Sequel)

Let’s try to clear that up. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is the continuation of Modern Warfare (2019)which was a reboot of Modern Warfare, and is not related Modern Warfare remastered or Modern Warfare 2 remasteredboth of which are part of the same subseries within Call from Duty that includes Modern Warfare 2: Force Reconnaissance and Modern warfare mobilizedthis is a DS port from Modern warfare 2but not the remastered edition but the original which is not the new game just announced which is a sequel to the rebooted one Modern Warfare.

Wait, I’m more confused. Despite it, Modern Warfare II (Not Modern warfare 2) will be out on mainstream platforms later this year I assume. It’s technically, by my count, that 47 call of Duty game ever made. We all live in hell.
