New footage from The Matrix Resurrections debuted at this year’s The Game Awards – and it packs a lot in just a minute.
Introduced by Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, the clip shows Neo (Reeves) following Jessica Henwick’s character through a door on the roof of a city building, only to board a bullet train through Tokyo. Henwick’s character explains that “having a moving portal” makes it “harder to track” and also mentions that people no longer need payphones and landlines to get around. Talk about a technical upgrade!
But the biggest reveal comes at the end, where Neo literally steps on a torn movie screen depicting his first meeting with Morpheus. Watching him is the character of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who may or may not be a version of Morpheus. Both characters tell Neo that they want to take him back to the present with a glimpse into the past … but what does it all mean ?!
The Matrix Resurrections hits theaters December 22nd and HBO Max. For more information, see the interactive link just released, The matrix is awakening, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
