At the end of the original Poison, Eddie Brock and his bloodthirsty symbiote have agreed: Eddie can lead a normal life, and sometimes that life includes Venom letting criminals eat. But in the sequel Poison: Let there be slaughter, it seems that the two have encountered a difficult period.
In the movie’s new trailer released on Monday, Eddie is fed up with chasing criminals so his alter ego / partner can devour them, so he’s a loser again when it comes to Venom. Both sides of this rocky relationship are, of course, still played by Tom Hardy, who is kind of stranger as a human than as a symbiote.
But there’s more going on here than just relationship drama. The trailer also gives us a better look at the movie’s villain Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson) who hosts the symbiote Carnage. Cletus is in maximum security prison for his crimes as a serial killer, but when Eddie comes to portray him, Cletus bites off Venom’s host and has just enough symbiotic DNA to create a whole new and more dangerous version: Carnage.
Poison: Let there be slaughter
Poison: Let there be slaughter is slated to hit theaters exclusively on September 24th, although it’s worth noting that this new trailer removes the release date and simply says “this fall”.
