When Halo infiniteis recurring “Fracture: Tenrai”Event comes back in January, it will be a lot more generous with its rewards. So says Jerry Hook, chief designer of 343 Industries, who said so while on vacation for the company Community stream on Twitch earlier this week.
Halo infinite has had its free-to-play multiplayer mode available on Xbox and PC for about a month. Like most first person shooters powered by such a model, it features a seasonal battle passthat you go through by earning XP up Mastering task-based challenges. As you progress through the levels, you’ll unlock cosmetic options for your player avatar, a super soldier from the 25th century.
In November, 343 Industries started the week-long Fracture: Tenrai event, which is scheduled to take place several times beforehand InfiniteThe first season ends in May 2022. Fracture: Tenrai offers its own Battle Pass. It’s free and you can go through it along with the standard Battle Pass. During the first run of the event, you could only complete the levels by completing challenges related to the Fiesta game mode, a frenetic type of game that spawns players with random gear. The event’s Battle Pass included legendary gear linked to the samurai-inspired Yoroi armor set.

That has sparked some controversy. Trailers and promotional photos about the event were shown an impressive wardrobe of sick equipment, but many of the customizations for the gear were inaccessible to even the most dedicated gamer. (During the first run, you could only unlock seven levels. The coolest equipment wasn’t available until you hit two-digit numbers.) And then there’s the fact that some items, like the Sentinel’s Blades, were booted up Gamers considered a high sticker price to be steep, only available in Halo infinite‘s microtransaction storage.
Expect this to change at least somewhat during the second run of Tenrai.
“We want to make sure that when we show an asset from a marketing or communication perspective, it is very clear to the players what it is [available in the] save versus what’s free, ”Hook said of the discrepancy. “None of this should be available in stores. We made this mistake. I’m sorry for that.”
Hook said that when you return from Fracture: Tenrai on the Battle Pass on the 4th, you can swap one of your weekly challenges). Instead, it will contain more of what Hook called “actual content” – shoulders, coatings, pieces of equipment.
Th is is where things get interesting. A Microsoft representative, Halo infinite
Microsoft representatives did not immediately respond to clarification from Kotaku about which items would and would not be included for free. Probably the most controversial item – the Sentinel’s Blades, a purely cosmetic katana kit that costs 1,500 credits ($ 15 or around $ 13 for Game Pass members) – won’t be in the new pass.
Fracture: Tenrai is currently scheduled to return on January 4, 2022 and run through January 10, 2022. Another week is scheduled for the first week of February, after which it will return once a month for the rest of the season. Earlier this week, 343 Industries said it will increase the frequency with which Tenrai-related challenges appear, but it didn’t specify what specific playlist you need to play in order to advance through the Bonus Battle Pass. On Tuesday, Fiesta has 343 as a permanent game mode in. added Halo infinite.
