Nielsen’s year-end summary takes into account the ever-growing range of streaming services. With the exception of Disney Plus’ The MandalorianAll shows in the top 15 were on Netflix in 2020. For more context, the Nielsen numbers only take into account shows that are viewed on television screens in the US. If Friends HBO Max has had billions of views through the service’s mobile app, we just don’t know.
Perhaps it’s no surprise that these are always popular The office at the top of the list. The show was on Netflix until last year, but NBC’s new service Peacock jumped up in 2021. Of the remaining shows, four Netflix originals make up the list: Ozark, Lucifer, The crown, and Tiger King. The full list is as follows:
