The Olympic games seem to be incredibly cool this year. Everywhere you look, there is another great story being spun out of the Games, such as Simone Biles and the US gymnastics team very funny beef with a former team member who tried (and failed) to badmouth them before they won gold. But perhaps no sport at this year’s Olympics has given us more new icons than shooting, with many of its competitors forming a murderer’s line of sharpshooters who look like the world’s toughest wankers.
It started with Kim Ye-ji, a South Korean shooter who caused a stir now iconic appearance, style and incredible attitude. Since then, the Olympics have somehow always produced shooters that all seem like they could be the main characters of a game or movie. Yusuf Dikeç, a shooter from Turkey, is the latest phenomenon to emerge at the Games, and I believe HitmanAgent 47 should be very afraid of this man.
Much like Ye-ji, Dikeç became known for his shooting stance. Unlike the South Korean master shooter, however, Dikeç made the rounds for his relaxed appearance and lack of any equipment to speak of. Ye-ji quickly became a favorite for her stylized pose and steely gaze, but in comparison, Dikeç’s star is rising because his buddy looks like he barely bothered to show up. The guy just looks like he doesn’t give a damn about anything, and yet he still managed to take home silver in his category.
Do you know what Dikeç said when asked about his lack of equipment? “I didn’t need any special equipment. I’m a natural, a natural at shooting.” The aura that this guy exudes is incredibleand just like Ye-ji, it has inspired people all over the world to now idolize him, make a meme out of him, produce fan art, and reinterpret him and his attitude in their favorite video games and anime.
Ye-ji and Dikeç have become the stars of the shooting category, but they are not the only competitors who have caught online attention. Sarabjot Singh from India has also become something of a meme, as has Choe Daehan, another shooter from South Korea whose very distinctive shooting style is probably more seen than described:
And then there is this legend. I just can’t get enough of the incredible shooters of the Olympic Games. If that how much fun the games are They constantly gained a new fan for life.
