This September marks the 25th anniversary of the Persona RPG series, and Atlus can’t be blamed for under-celebrating the event. The developer is tease seven persona-related project announcements, the first of which will be released sometime in September.
This septet of announcements will last until “Fall 2022”, so the Persona website for the 25th anniversary, so enjoy a longer wait. Five projects are listed as “in brief” only.
It’s unclear if these new Persona projects will be full games, spin-offs, ports, animated series, toys, or something else entirely. But new merchandise is fueling speculation and hoping that maybe, just maybe, one of Atlus’ announcements is related Person 6, the next game in the franchise.
Two sets of Article on the topic of persona for the anniversary – one focuses on the protagonists of each game in the main series, the other shows the cover artwork of these games – tease “secret”, yet to be announced projects. The conclusion of many fans is that they will show the heroes or the artwork of the next persona games.
This September marks not only Persona’s 25th birthday, but also fifth’s fifth anniversary Person 5‘s publication. This entry in the Persona series was first announced in 2013, with an expected release on PlayStation 3 in 2014, along with spin-off titles Persona 4 Arena Ultimax
Given the Persona series’ foray into rhythm games, fighting games, Dynasty Warriors-style beat-em-ups, and dungeon-crawler-style RPGs, it’s likely that Atlus will continue to take full advantage of the series, which could certainly help, too substantiate this list of announcements of seven projects.
Longtime producer and director of the Persona series, Katsura Hashino passed the reins of the franchise on to fellow creators at Atlus. He’s working on now Project Re Fantasy at Studio Zero, a relatively new group within Atlus.
