The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of the most popular video games of all time and has been ported to more platforms than I can name. Even so, someone decided to spend $ 600 on a sealed Xbox 360 copy of the. to spend Skyrim at a current online auction.
As discovered by Axios and a reporter over there (Good luck man!) an unopened copy of Skyrim sold for $ 600 on July 11th. It was part of the same crowd that included the outrageously expensive ones Super mario 64that is also the same day for. was sold $ 1.5 millionThough some viewers are raising their eyebrows what’s really going on.
It still kinda breaks my brain to see a super easy to find game like Skyrim sealed in one of those plastic boxes and sold on a website for so much money. It seems like I picked up this game at my local GameStop just yesterday and now it’s selling for over half a grand. I usually blame the rich, but in this case, the price is just low enough that it is very likely a die-hard one Elder Scrolls Fan bought this to add to their collection. Kotaku contacted Heritage Auctions about this game.
While $ 600 is way, way less than a million and a half, it’s still an unusual price for a game available on almost every video game platform since the Xbox 360 and PS3. Hell, Skyrim Enhanced Edition is available on Game pass and includes all additional DLCs. According to Heritage Auctions, the special thing about this version of the game is that it has a 9.2 Rating from video game review service Wata. That means it’s in near mint condition, though that’s not that hard to believe considering the game isn’t even a decade old.
If you want to grab this copy of Skyrim For yourself, you can make the new owner an offer of $ 900. However, Heritage Auctions warns that they are currently unwilling to sell and will not respond to most of the offers. So good luck next time. (Please don’t spend $ 900 on a copy of Skyrim.)
G / O Media can receive a commission
Skyrim wasn’t the only modern game that sold for a higher than expected price. The original Red Dead Redemption on Xbox 360 sold for $ 384. The somewhat older original Tomb Raider, Released on PS1 in 1996, sold for a staggering $ 144,000. These newer and less infrequent games that fetch such high prices at auctions are further evidence that the retro game collection scene is expanding. Chances are, you’ve got something worth a few hundred dollars in a closet right now. But as with all bubbles, this one is likely to burst one day. So I wouldn’t sit around on your sealed copy of Fallout 3 on PS3 also Long.
