The Sons have a "costly" problem, driven by high demand for memory, which could drive the price of the PlayStation 5 up to $ 500, according to a report Bloomberg. The current production cost for the PS5, Bloomberg says, is about $ 450.
Competition for DRAM and NAND memory is said to be costly, but Bloomberg also reports that Sony is using the more expensive PS5 system. A common complaint about the company's existing generation console, the PlayStation 4, is the loud noise of fans due to heat exhaustion.
Bloomberg says that Tony is taking a wait-and-see approach – that is, waiting to see how Microsoft calls his Xbox Series X console – to set the price of the PS5. But if Sony follows the same pricing model of the PS5 as it did at the launch of the PS4, the $ 499 price of the PS5 seems feasible, if not quite possible.
When Tony revealed the first details on the PS5 last year, the console sounded more expensive than the $ 399.99 PlayStation 4 Pro. But the company said it was focusing on the "attractive" price point based on PS5 usage.
We may not know the price of the PlayStation 5 (or Xbox Series X) until early June. Microsoft will enter into E3 2020, where it is expected to reveal more details about its next Xbox. Tony said he would skip E3 this year to attend other consumer events.
Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X are slated to launch during the holiday break this year, and are expected to have similar price points.
