The Ranch of Rivershine is a hard-hitting and leisurely horse ranch simulator

Horse girls rejoice! Horse lovers no longer have to rely on mods to make games like Red Redemption 2 and Sims 3 into horse girl games. Now an upcoming game called Rivershine Ranch allows you to play through the ins and outs of owning a ranch, from caring for your horses to entering competitions.

This week we also have a game in which you build houses from mushrooms, a chicken that rides a frying pan like a snowboard, an adventure on an island full of frogs and a spooky horror game.

Breed horses and run your own ranch

Rivershine Ranch is a horse simulator game in the work of Éloïse Laroche and Cozy Bee Games. The game doesn’t have a release date, but a new trailer showed off plenty of gameplay. Players can groom, ride, and even compete with their horses. There is no release window yet, but players can check the progress of this game and the studio’s other work Laroche’s Twitter account.

Build a mushroom house and take photos

mushroom architect is an adorable building game in which you can design mushroom-themed houses for forest spirits from developer Punkcake Délicieux. The game has an adorable chunky pixelated art style along with a lo-fi soundtrack. In the home editor you can build houses block by block and it looks like a relaxing time. The game is available now Itch.io for Windows PCand you can see more work from Studio on his Patreon.

Embark on an adventure with frogs

I seem to manage to find a new frog game every other week. Frogs just seem to be a popular trend with many smaller indie developers. This game is called Time on Frog Island and it allows you to live an adventure with frogs. In a video, we see a character exploring the overworld while a flock of tadpoles chases after them. We don’t know how the tadpoles survive out of the water, but it sure looks cute. According to developer Half Past Yellow, the game is coming “soon”. Windows PC via Steam.

alpine chicken? alpine fowl

No, that’s not a name for a chicken recipe. It’s a game where you shred the slopes as a chicken. The game is called slope crasher and it is developed by the studio byte parrot. In a new gameplay video, we see a chicken skiing down a mountain while performing tricks like multiple 360-degree front flips. According to the Steam page, the game is scheduled for release in Winter 2022 and you can see occasional updates from the developer her Twitter account.

Escape the creeping tendrils of your own room

Although there is a trend of horror games inspired by the 3D igamesnewsal style of the PlayStation 1 era, not all developers are following these trends. Atelier QDBs decarnation manages to capture horror in a pixelated 2D style. What struck me was the way the physical tendrils of the room seemed to be creeping up on the main character. Described by the developer as a “retro mindfuck horror adventure”. decarnation will reportedly be a “story-rich” horror game.
