Have you ever waited a few hours to ride a popular roller coaster? Possibly. But I can guarantee you that no one has ever waited the entire life of the known universe. Well, unless you’re the unfortunate digital people stuck on something wild and complicated new Roller coaster tycoon 2 Creation by YouTuber Marcel Vos.
published in 2002, Roller coaster tycoon 2 is a popular PC theme park builder that is still actively played and modified by gamers in 2023. But there are also purists who don’t play the game with fancy mods or open source ports. And Marcel Vos, a favorite RCT2 YouTuber is one of those gamers who enjoys experimenting with the original 20-year-old version of the game. A few years ago he made a coaster that lasts 12 years to graduate. But now his latest creation – impressively made without mods – is a working roller coaster that will last over 3 trillion years true life complete. Bring some snacks with you.
To accomplish this amazing and elusive task, Marcel Vos first built a really, really, really long roller coaster that had almost no hills or dips. This means that the train of the roller coaster moves very slowly around the whole thing. Then when it reaches the end, it reverses due to certain driving options. The return journey takes even longer. And it has to complete this very long journey seven times before the journey is considered complete. All in all, this trip lasted more than two years. That’s long, but not the universe-spanning ride that the headline of this article promised.
This is achieved via 253 smaller roller coasters that are synchronized – using in-game options in RCT2– with the larger, very slow roller coaster. Once that big coaster finishes a ride – which takes two years – one of the smaller coasters starts its ride and that coaster is synchronized with a coaster that then completes a ride, and so on and so on. It all means that it will be a lot longer than just two years before you reach the final coaster in this nightmare chain. In fact, the actual number is so large that I can’t even write them all down.

Marcel Vos does a good job in the video showing how incredibly large this number is and points out that if you were to count a single atom of everything that exists in the known universe every year, you would be right on time von Vos’ “Universe Coaster” would finally end its elusive journey. Yes, you definitely want to pack plenty of snacks before boarding this ride.
If you want to see this madness Roller coaster tycoon 2 drive yourself, Marcel mercifully released Vos a file that you can download and play on your own PC. But be warned: you won’t be around to see the final ride complete its never-ending journey through theme park hell.
