After two more casting announcements in a row, Max and Naughty Dog have revealed that Isabela Merced will play Ellie’s friend Dina The last of us‘ second season, set to premiere on the streaming service in 2025. Sorry to everyone who wanted it to be the girl we saw I stared at Ellie in that one scene in the first season.
How Abby And Jesse Previously, the announcement was first published on Max’s social channels Confirmation that Merced will join the cast on January 11th, followed by a second post from The last of us Developer Naughty Dog states that she is playing Dina.
Merced’s notable acting credits include the role of Dora in the live-action Dora the Explorer Movie Dora and the Lost City of Goldand Izabella in Transformers: The Last Knight. Later this year she will appear in Madam Web as Anya Corazon, and next year she will play Hawkgirl Superman: Legacy
During the first season, fans thought Dina had already appeared on the show after a young girl who looked somewhat like her was shown staring at Ellie when she and Joel first arrived in the Jackson community. Whether it was intentional or not, the actress in the scene, Paolina van Kleef, is not playing Dina in the second season.
If you’ve never played the games, Dina is certainly one of the standout characters The Last of Us Part II. She is Ellie’s friend, one of the most reliable sources of comic relief, and embodies some of the game’s larger themes in the eleventh hour. There are still a lot of characters in there The Last of Us Part II who haven’t confirmed any actors for the adaptation yet – but all we really want is for Max to announce that game actor Ian Alexander will be reprising the role of Lev, this time for the TV series.
