The Tomb Raider trilogy is available for free on the Epic Games Store, and players have approximately a week in the New Year to claim them. They went free on December 30th and will return to their regular prices on January 6th, 2021, a week later.
Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider all follow a younger Lara Croft than the double-pistol-praising adventurer from the early PlayStation era. They serve as the origin story for Lara, with each adventure being more unusual than the last. 2013 Tomb Raider starts with Lara learning to defend herself after a shipwreck, and 2018 Shadow of the Tomb Raider shows how Lara is “forged into the Tomb Raider she is meant to be”.
Each of the games in the Epic Games Store come with all of the corresponding DLCs. Tomb Raider Game of the Year Edition contains the tomb of the lost adventurer and some bonus outfits. Ascent the Tomb Raider: 20th anniversary includes a bonus story from “Blood Ties” in Croft Manor and a zombie invasion called “Lara’s Nightmare”. Shadow of the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition includes all downloadable skins, outfits, and skills, plus seven DLC challenge tombs.
Gods will fall, the top-down action game from Clever Beans and Deep Silver, will be the next free game to hit the Epic Games Store and players will be able to pick it up for free from January 6th to January 13th, 2022.
