As one of the few major publishers involved in tabletop role-playing games, Simon & Schuster imprint Adams Media began publishing books about tabletop games in 2016. Litorco's guide contained 100 gaming etiquette rules “that every gamer must follow.” In 2018 it released the Ultimate Guide to RPG Character Backstory by James D'Amato, Polygon Contributor and founder of the One shot actual gaming network. The book provides suggestions and exercises to flesh out player characters' backstories, creating a fuller personality that players can embody once they sit down at the table.
The success of D'Amato's guide gave birth to the series of guides included in this package. D'Amato's other books in this series include: Ultimate RPG Game Masters Worldbuilding Guide, The Ultimate RPG gameplay guideAnd The Ultimate Micro RPG bookwhich contains 40 Rules Lite table games.
This is one of the other books in the series The ultimate book about chance encounters by Travis Wheeler (which offers hundreds of encounters that you can incorporate into any fantasy game of your choice) and The everything tabletop game book by Bebo. The latter promises to introduce even the uninitiated to the world of tabletop gaming, explaining different genres of games and providing strategies for winning them.
