After being stale for a little too long for an introductory month, Pokémon Trading Card Game Bag has finally launched a new event in its rather echoing corridors – the Venusaur Drop Event. And oh wow, there's a winnable card that will land right at the top of your folder.
Similar to before Lapras Drop EventThe Venusaur version is a collection of player versus CPU battles in which the game plays increasingly powerful deck builds based on the latest evolution of the OG Grass starter. Passing these will earn you a ton of awards and additional bonuses that you can unlock as you replay each stage to complete certain missions.
And similar to the Lapras event, it's blocked by another crappy in-game currency in the form of “Event Stamina (Solo)” hourglasses that limit the number of players you can play. This time around, however, it seems to be a lot more generous with the prizes on offer, throwing away a handful of the item everyone really wants – packing hourglasses – along with Miracle Stamina, Bright Dust, Shop Tickets, and other event hourglasses at your disposal Keep playing. Oh, and most importantly, it's much easier to distribute packs of the new Promo Pack A Series Vol. 2, in which you can receive a new set of stamped promo cards, including a wonderful new Venusaur full art illustrated by Kuroimori.

It's pretty rudimentary to complete a first run through all four levels. Unlike the Lapras deck, Venusaur builds haven't exactly found their way into the meta for good reason, and it's hopelessly weak against a half-decent Fire-type build. (If you have that Charizard/Moltres deck built(You'll hammer through it in minutes.) But that's not a bad thing, since you also get a total of 20 packs of hourglasses, meaning you can crack open at least one extra pack for the day. And four chances to open the one-card promo packs.
My son, who blitzed the event, was terribly unlucky, although that comes in handy after he received a Lapras Ex First Pack in the previous drop event. However, I then made him angry by taking the new Venusaur not only in my first pack, but also in my second! Haha, that Theten years old.
You can then play through the stages again and again and complete other tasks such as “Put your opponent's Pokemon to sleep once” or “Win this battle by turn 12”, which rewards you with Miracle Stamina and Event Hourglasses and gives you the option to “Win 20 or more”. The top level “Battles” task also offers you a new challenge until the end of the event on December 13th.
There are five cards from the promo packs, each with art not already included Bag before (although some are known from the real maps). There's Haunter, Jigglypuff, Onix, Greninja and that awesome Venusaur. It's just a shame that the latter is spoiled by the big, ugly blue box that obscures the image and insanely overlays the actual Venusaur itself. Damned.
