Keep in mind it looks awful The last of us Clone, The last hope, which was released earlier this month? Well, it turns out the game is a lot worse than the trailer first suggested. Apparently the whole game is only about 20 minutes long, takes place on a street, and is a broken mess.
Let’s think back to last week. That’s if a terrible looking Nintendo Switch The last of us clone went viral online. A trailer for the game looked like a stark copy of Naughty Dog’s award-winning franchise, complete with its own Ellie-like companion. It was even invoked The last hope. Yes, the people who made it didn’t pay close attention to where they got their “inspiration” from. Most would agree it looked bad, but now thanks Digital Foundry, it is clear that this is much worse than we thought. In fact, it could be the worst game of 2023.
In a new upload on Thursdaythe video game tech analysts Digital Foundry torn The last hope apart from a video about as long as the actual game.
Where do you even start? First of all – this might be the most shocking thing – the whole game seems to be mostly set in a U-shaped street in a generic city. Since the game is based on Unity store props, it’s a pretty confusing place to be. American flags can be seen next to European sockets. Other assets don’t seem to work together either, with some being far too detailed compared to other scattered lower-res objects.
Play The last hope is a frustrating, bad experience
When you actually start playing The last hope, you’ll also find that the frame rate is horrendous, often dropping well below 30. This makes gaming difficult as the game’s performance fluctuates constantly. What also makes the game difficult to play is that the game seems to have barely been tested. As shown in the Digital Foundry Video, it gives the player very limited resources.
For example, your endurance meter will not charge up over time, limiting the number of swings your baseball bat can make. And there are only three MREs in the entire game that partially refill your stamina. Also, bullets are rare, which means that if you miss too many shots, you can end up in a no-win situation.
In one part, players have to use a lock pick to open a police car and zombies can kill them in the process. The problem is that the game doesn’t tell you that this is happening. So you pick the lock, complete it, and get to a screen that simply says, “You’re dead.” That means you have to clear the area of zombies Before
Oh, and consider that it only takes about 15 minutes, provided you manage your limited resources properly and don’t get stuck trying to open a door that can only be opened with the “E” key. (Note: the Switch does not have an E key.)
The Switch digital store is full of this crap
The last hope is a hilariously bad video game from developers who have a track record of horrible Switch shovels and stuff like that World War: Battle Heroes Field Army Call of Prison Duty Simulator.
And it’s easy to laugh at what I’ve done and will continue to do. But it’s unfortunately not an oddity in the Switch’s eShop, which over the last few years has been filled with scoopware junk that some would say is pretty close to cheating territory. Not that I’m calling The last hope– a game that can be completed in 15 minutes and looks right like a rip off The last of us Using ill-matched Unity assets – a scam. Just, you know, some people could I say this.
I think some people just assume these shovel games are bad and don’t think much about it. But I think Nintendo should try to put some quality control back into their store.
On the one hand, so many indie developers work really hard on games that end up drowning in a vast sea of content. Slicing out some of the worst, most broken shovel gadgets from the store could give these developers more success. There are also many younger gamers on the Switch platform who, or their parents, may not know any better and are wasting some money on something awful, broken, and awful. Something like The last hope.
