The characters in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba are characterized by their extraordinary courage. Tanjiro Kamado, for example, constantly pushes himself to the brink of death just to save the people around him. And then there is Murata.
When he first appears in the series, Murata runs away from battle but is captured by a demon. This minor character is so forgettable that he doesn’t get funny hair colors or a middle name. He has no special powers and is often reprimanded by his superiors. He’s just a regular guy who happens to get caught up in the tumult of several major battles.
But that doesn’t matter, because the fans of the Demon Hunter Anime have unofficially named Murata the most popular and unofficially strongest character in the series.
To be clear: Murata is not that powerful in the world of Demon HunterHe is a standard grunt in the Demon Hunter Corps and does not practice any special breathing techniques. But that has not damaged his reputation.
The idea that he is the only normal guy among a crowd of experienced fighters only serves to highlight the inherent irony of what is happening.
In a videowhich has been viewed over 1.9 million times on TikTok, the creator overlays text over a clip of Murata falling into the Infinity Castle – a vast realm and home to the most powerful demon, Muzan. The text reads, “Muzan’s worst mistake was putting Murata in the same radius as him.” In the comments, people voice their support for the joke, with one person responding, “Muzan only goes out at night because Murata is sleeping.” The clip has been liked over 22,000 times.
TikTok is full of videos that more or less make jokes like the one above, but the gag has only gained more traction. Another video that more than 3.6 million views
Now fans are building on the original joke and inventing a fake but extremely powerful fighting technique known only to Murata called “Galaxy Breathing.” The idea has become so popular that it’s being suggested as a search term in the comments.
This is not the first and probably will not be the last joint shitposting of the Demon Hunter community. This is the same fan base that started roasting each other at live performances Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Trainfinally.
Fortunately, this time everyone decided to ignore reality by elevating an average character to a godly level of power.
