Keep going is a newly revealed indie game that aims to provide a relaxed RPG experience drive across the country in the early 2000s in your battered and crappy first car. And that’s why I’m here.
I love a good road trip. I have fond memories of traveling to distant cities for boring life events. Even if the destination wasn’t great, the journey mostly was, and I always love it when I can get on the highway in a game and simulate a long car trip, complete with gas station stops, listening to music, and dealing with minor problems like storms, traffic, and so on dark country roads. So I’m really looking forward to playing the recently announced game Keep going
Here’s the trailer, which looks great, has a great song, and shows off the game’s beautiful pixel art style.
According to the game’s Steam page, Keep going will feature a procedurally generated world to explore, a focus on analog devices, turn-based “battles” to resolve street-based situations, and multiple endings that can be reached after one to four hours of driving.
Here’s how the people behind this upcoming retro road trip simulator describe the game in the description for Trailer found on YouTube:
It’s the early 2000s and you’ve just bought your first car. A long, slow summer is ahead of us. When you hear about a festival on the other side of the country, you start the engine, plot a course on your map and head out. How, if at all, you get there is up to you.
Keep going is a management role-playing game about slowly making your way through a procedurally generated open pixel art world. Accommodate hitchhikers with their own personalities and stories; Upgrade, customize and repair your car. Solve challenges on the go with a unique turn-based “combat” system, using your own skills and whatever is lying around in the glove compartment to get through.
No release date for Keep going was announced, but you can Wishlist now on Steam.
