One of the weirdest things about launching Battlefield 2042 is that despite everything it tried to do differently, and even succeeded in some cases, it has been so completely rounded and devoured by critics that if you had never played the game you would be forgiven for assuming that this was not even the case was booting up.
Put another way, because that’s the way the internet is (especially social media), once enough people said “this game is bad,” and more and more people said the game was bad, an attraction of sorts was set in motion at louder and louder volumes, until that was Everyone people said about it.
I also said that in my review of the game, but that’s not true! It’s true that the game is broken in some important parts, yes, and in others it could use some work, but ruining the whole thing when it still has some very good and fun parts means sacrificing some surprisingly epic multiplayer games. robbing battles.
Anyway! That’s a very long winded statement getting to the point here which is that because I’m one of the few people on this planet that actually has a really fun time with the game I’ve been playing for a year now a few months. Not just during work hours but outside of it too, and having *um* gotten pretty adept at it, I thought now would be a good time to share some tips.
Some of these may seem easy to veterans, but I’m trying to cover all the basics here, so have fun for a moment while serious players get down to some of the easier tips. And note that most of them will be related to Conquest and Breakthrough as they are the flagship modes and anyway the only ones worth playing over a long period of time.
GRENADES: Most grenades are useless (battles are too fast, maps are too big) except for some random incredibly specific circumstances. The exception to this is the smoke grenade, which is extremely useful when trying to capture a sector or need to hide your escape from someone targeting you with a bigger/better weapon.
AIR DEFENSE: Through 2042 On wide-open maps, helicopters have emerged as the most dangerous forces on the battlefield. Helicopters in the hands of skilled pilots can dominate the battlefield, so the more infantry that pack anti-aircraft weapons (especially snipers at the edges of the map), the better. And while we’re on the subject, if you ever pilot the game’s only anti-aircraft ground vehicle, please try to focus on anti-aircraft responsibilities. There’s nothing more annoying than someone trying to get cheap infantry kills with the Wildcat’s powerful turrets when helicopters are raining death on your troops somewhere else on the map.
SQUAD: For a few reasons, most notably the lack of VOIP in the game, it can seem like there’s no point in sticking with your team. However, try it if you can; You will enjoy a range of benefits such as: B. the ability to revive each other even if you’re not packing medical gear, and spawn next to each other even if you’re in a vehicle on the other side of the map.
WEAPONS: With few exceptions, there are actually no weapons better than others of its kind. So if you’re new to the game, don’t assume that unlocking new rifles and handguns will simply lead to improved stats. What you usually get are different weapons with different abilities. For example, most snipers will use the middle of the game’s three because the spiffiest last one is geared more toward anti-vehicle use, a completely different use than blowing people off.
SPECIALISTS: One of the most controversial changes to the game, Battlefields The traditional class system (Medic, Engineer, etc.) has been replaced 2042 with Specialists, pre-made characters with their own perks and abilities (although you can actually modify any Specialist to wear a base loadout roughly equivalent to the old class designations). Take your time to figure out which one suits you best, but try them all because almost every single one of them has some very cool uses for their unique abilities that can change the experience for you. For example, I didn’t settle on my favorite (Mackay) until I was around level 45-50 because all the others I tried had really fun stuff that I got used to too.
blackbirds: See AA advice above, only reversed. If you have the patience and/or skill, learning to fly these agile Scout Helicopters will make you the deadliest force on the battlefield. I’ve tried and spectacularly failed to master it myself, and so now I see anyone who is able to whip across rooftops and mow down infantry with cannons as some kind of god.
TANK: Here’s some tactical advice straight from the real world: Don’t rush your tank. I know that with all that firepower and armor it’s tempting to think you’re somehow invulnerable and that the best place for you is at the tip of the spear, but 2042 Armor is surprisingly vulnerable in many situations. A squad of infantry with C5s and/or RPGs will make short work of a tank, so they’re best used in a support role, sitting just a little behind the infantry and raining down explosive fire on the enemy.
COOPERATION: While kills, assists, and captures tend to unleash the biggest dopamine hit among them battlefield Player, victory in this game requires 64 people working as a team, not just roving killer gangs. Any successful team will have dedicated medics, delivery men (drop ammo), and spotters whose work may not be immediately satisfying, but supporting an advance or spotting enemies for easy kills will mean the difference between victory and defeat.
BOLT: If you’re ever bored or frustrated in a game, or just wondering what to do when faced with huge maps that look like everything is happening around you at once, just get a Bolte. They’re fast, easy to run over people with, have stereo and can be equipped with powerful cannons. You’ll soon be blown up or shot through her large cockpit window, but up to this point you’ll have a blast.
HANG OUT: Here’s a special tip directly related to the game’s lackluster reception and dwindling player base. Every time you try and play and the game can’t find any current rounds to throw you into, you’ll be stuck on a waiting screen with up to three other players. The problem with this is that it doesn’t tell you how long you’ve been waiting, how long the other players have been waiting, or most importantly, what the player count is for the game you’re in the waiting room for. It’s impossible to tell if you’re two players under 128 and a 45 minute game is about to begin, or if you’re the only person waiting and it may never get underway. To keep your sanity, don’t waste time; If you don’t get into a game within 30 seconds, exit and try another mode or do something more constructive with your time.
CONQUEST: A tip for Conquest mode only! Both factions have large transport helicopters that can carry a load of infantry as gunners in the air, but as airborne troops when they disembark. These are absolutely crucial for capturing lightly defended sectors on the other side of the map. So if you ever see one of these transporters land near you, or have a spot open when they spawn, jump right in.
BREAKTHROUGH: And now another tip just for Breakthrough mode! While these games have defined attackers and defenders, the latter must try to go on the offensive from time to time. If not at least tries made to recapture lost targets, then the offensive momentum of the attacking side will roll over you.
SOFMAP: I saved my last and most important tip for last. Please, for heaven’s sake, once you’ve unlocked it, learn how to use the SOFMAP. Capable of both marking enemy units (so your teammates can see them at a glance even if they’re hidden in vegetation or behind cover) and distracting enemy vehicles with a missile barrier, it’s the least dangerous object in the game (since it has no offensive or defensive capabilities), but also the most dangerous as it can mean the difference between a gunfight ending in a stalemate or your side murdering everyone in sight because you could “paint” every single enemy, even that one those who hide and run for cover.
And that’s it! As I said, I’ve tried to be fairly general with my tips here, but if you have any you’d like to see added, get in touch and I’ll see if the post gets updated!
