You hear someone say Tom Brady’s age (45!) and it doesn’t really hit you as the guy still looks pretty fit and healthy. So, to fully appreciate the length of Brady’s tenure on this earth, you have to be aware that the man appeared in a video game for the PlayStation. how Original PlayStation.
Brady, born in 1977, was drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL draft as the 199th pick and spent his first season in the league as a fourth-string QB. In fact, he was so far down the NFL pecking order that he made his first appearance in Driving me crazy
A year later, after being promoted to the substitute spot, he took over for the injured Drew Bledsoe, led the Patriots to a championship and the rest is history. Note that his rise to stardom happened so quickly that he didn’t even appear in most versions of crazy 02, the year he would onwards to win the Super Bowl; In the PC, PS1, PS2, and N64 editions, the Patriots only had the three QBs above them in the previous season’s depth chart, meaning only the Xbox and GameCube versions were released months after the season 2001 had already started and Brady it was the starting QB for the Patriots had him in the game.
Brady retires as the statistical leader in nearly every category important to a QB, from passing yards to attempted passes to TD passes, while also leading the league when it comes to ball deflation controversies, crypto cheat notations and oddball species to kiss his child on the mouth.
To celebrate his career – or, for many of you, to celebrate his retirement, he announced today– I’ve put together this slideshow showing his video game career, from its beginnings on the PS1 through to the NFL 2K Series, Driving me crazy and some other stops in between. It won’t be every game from every year, that would be boring – and for new Driving me crazy Games are incredibly repetitive – but still it’s going to be a nice little walk down memory lane. Unless you remember playing one of those first few games, in which case I’m sorry to remind you how old you are.
