Twitch and TwitchCon are everything inclusive spaces should be

Inclusive, my city, Spaces, Twitch, TwitchCon

I’m at the Glitch Theater at the San Diego Convention Center during TwitchCon 2024 watching a drag artist dressed as silent Hill‘s Pyramid Head lip-syncing to a nu-metal song on stage. The audience is a mix of high-profile streamers like Central Committee and KaceyTron, smaller Twitch partners, and fans – that’s all of them Life for the third annual TwitchCon Drag Showcase. JuiceBoxx, a streamer and one of this year’s presenters, can be seen with her face all over the convention center. Ru Paul’s Drag Race Superstar Trixie Mattel has a makeup area on the show floor where employees offer beauty tips and touch-ups, and an off-site Capcom party is filled with several drag queens whose hair almost touches the bar ceiling. Attendees will have pronoun pins available to place on their badges, and nonprofits like TransLifeline will have booths on the exhibit floor. – Alyssa Mercante
