Popular live streaming platform Twitch has restored former President Donald Trump’s official account, three and a half years after suspending the channel “indefinitely” following the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Twitch lifted the ban on Trump’s account on Friday, a day after he accepted the Republican nomination for president in the 2024 election. A Twitch representative confirmed the reactivation in a statement to Polygon on Monday, saying, “We believe it makes sense to hear directly from the presidential candidates when possible. Trump is now the official Republican nominee for U.S. president.”

The statement said Twitch will continue to adhere to its community guidelines and moderate the channel.

“We continue to enforce our Community Guidelines and take appropriate action when we see violations of our rules,” the representative said. “Twitch does not have a ‘public figure policy,’ meaning all channels are equally subject to our policies, regardless of whether the channel is owned by a public figure.”

Trump’s Twitch channel was founded in October 2019, according to Twitch Tracker. At the time of publication, the channel has more than 143,000 followers. His team uses it to live stream Trump’s events and rallies, and it has since returned to regular use – the campaign’s rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Saturday was streamed on the channel.
